The sun began to appear from the eastern horizon. Accompanied by a gentle breeze. The birds were giggling on the shady pine branches while chirping to match their high notes. The chickens began to prepare themselves to wake everyone who was near them. There, in a village known as Hallstat, there was a girl who was still fast asleep without thinking about what would happen today.
Alura. That's her nickname. 8 years old. Has a stature like an 8
year old child usually. Her stature is not too tall. Shoulder blonde hair. The
color of her eyeballs was aquamarine like water flowing calmly in the Hallstat
countryside. And her pale skin and sweet smile managed to exude an aura of
perfection for an Alura who was always adored by the villagers. She lives with
her beloved grandmother.
The villagers called her “A girl from heaven”. Why? Because she is
very fond of helping the people around her. With the help of a stray cat that
has been hers since she was a baby, Alura is even more enthusiastic about
spreading kindness. His name is Radelious. Its body is slightly plump with
thick fur. Such round eyes. Not like the usual stray cats. The cat can talk.
And the important point is, Radelious can grant anything. But only
for the owner; Alura.
One other important thing. Radelious could not grant Alura’s request
to get rid of her illness. Yes, stage 4 blood cancer.
“Good morning, Radelious,” said Alura who had just gotten out of
bed.
Radelious approached Alura who was walking unsteadily towards the
doorway. Wherever the girl went, the cat would always follow her. Don't want to
let go.
“Time for medicine!” shouted grandma from the kitchen. “Alura, don't
forget to bring Radelious,”
The two people had already filled the void in the chair prepared by
grandmother. This is how their daily life was before Grandma spent her time at
the cake shop and Alura would take Radelious on a roaming around the
countryside.
“Did you feel sick for few days, Alura?” Grandma asked. She was a
little worried seeing Alura’s pale face. Too pale.
Alura shook her head swiftly, “I'm fine, grandma. Really,"
“Never lie to grandma, okay? Grandma will be very worried if Alura
gets sick again.”
The girl just nodded. They immediately finished their breakfast and
after that they returned to their normal activities as usual. After Grandma
left the house, Radelious immediately approached. Alura knew for sure the cat
would curse her.
“Why you are lie? Since last night your nose is bleeding non-stop,”
“I don't want to make grandma worry about my condition that getting
worse,”
“Lying will make things worse, Alura—You don’t want to go to the
doctor anymore?”
Alura shook her head, “We're just going around the countryside. I
want to spend all day with you,”
Radelious meowed again. The meow does not agree with the wishes of
its owner. After all, Alura’s Health was more important than anything else.
“Just rest at home. Don't go anywhere today,”
“What if someone needs my help, Radelious? Don't you know that I love
to help them all the time?”
Radelious snorted in annoyance, “You never even thought about how
your life would be in the future, Alura. Can you not care too much about them?”
Alura wouldn’t be her name if she was going to hear Radelious's
curse. The girl immediately left the house without listening the curses that
were uttered by Radelious. She thought, maybe her life would not be long
considering her physical condition was worsening and the drugs she took every second were no longer working.
‘bruk’
Alura turned her head, there were mothers who had fallen on a small
road with some things they were carrying. Spontaneously the daughter approached
the mother and immediately helped her without saying a word. That's Alura's
daily life.
“Thank you very much sweet girl. Thank you for helping me,” said the
woman as she hugged Alura's body for a while. “Here, take it for you,”
“What is this?”
The woman smiled faintly, “This is a magic bracelet. Use it,” said
her.
Alura received the bracelet and then wore it carefully. She had just
looked at the woman’s position earlier, now there was no one near her.
Disappeared as if swallowed by the earth. Alura look so confused. But she didn't
know who to ask.
Miracles are always there, for those who believe.
That's the sentence neatly written on the bracelet.
“Alura! Alura!”
“Radelious? Why are you here?” Alura asked confused.
“Want to go around with you,” he talk with a little prestige.
Alura carried Radelious’s plump body while smiling. They wandered
around the countryside. help people who need their help. Persuading Radelious
to grant Alura’s request is like buying food for people in
need. Or invite Radelious to stop for a moment at Grandma’s cake shop.
Radelious was so busy granting Alura’s request to help others and she forgot that the girl was on a quest to fight her cancer at a time like
this. And under the shady trees in the countryside, Alura lay down. Her blood
was rushing.
“Are you all right, Alura? Your face is getting paler,” Radelious
asked frantically. “Should we go to the hospital?”
Alura didn’t respond well. She only moved her fingers, as a sign
that she looked fine and not in a bad condition.
“You did your best today, Alura—I have to take you to the hospital
now,”
Before Alura could respond, Radelious immediately stepped onto Alura’s
body and in an instant, they were in front of the hospital where Alura usually
meets her personal doctor. The cat meowed loudly so that the nurses passing by
were aware of them and immediately carried Alura’s helpless body.
Radelious wanted to be angry. But he can’t do that. He followed
where the nurse took the owner's body and ended up in a room marked 'ICU'. Radelious
is not stupid. Even smarter than humans. He knew the owner was in a very bad condition.
“Hi, I know this is weird. But, do you know who we can contact right
now? The girl is in a very bad state,” the nurse picked up Radelious and
invited her to speak.
Doctor Hansen.
Radelious jumped down from the nurse’s arms while meowing along the
corridor. He hoped the nurse was understand with what he was doing at this
time. The cat stepped quickly towards the figure of Doctor Hansen who was
sitting alone in the waiting room. The doctor was able to contact Grandma
because he knew Grandma very well.
‘Meow’ / “Doctor Hansen,”
“Radelious? Why are you here?” Doctor Hansen carried Radelious
quickly.
“Ah, I'm sorry, Doctor,”
Doctor Hansen immediately turned to the nurse on his right.
“This cat was with a girl who has stage 4 blood cancer. And now her
condition—”
“Oh God! —Thank you nurse for telling me,” Doctor Hansen then ran
down the corridor with Radelious still in his arms. He thought of Alura who
currently needed him. And grandma too.
Radelious and Doctor Hansen stared blankly at Alura’s helpless body
in the ICU. The girl was unconscious. Only a few percent left for Alura to
regain consciousness.
‘Meow meow meow’ / “Is she will wake up?” Radelious couldn't imagine
his life without Alura.
Doctor Hansen gently stroked Radelious's fur. He slightly understood
what the cat was saying. “Her condition has deteriorated, Radelious. The virus
has spread. Only God's miracle is needed right now."
‘Meow meeonggg’ / “Alura let's wake up!”
‘Meow meow meow meow’ / “I will accompany you to go around every
day. I won't complain anymore."
‘Meow meow’ / “Please wake up Alura!”
Radelious looks so messed up. He kept meowing, even when Grandma had
entered the ICU and cried for her unconscious grandson, Radelious still meowed
in Doctor Hansen's arms. The cat just wants its owner to wake up and come back
to him.
People said, miracles exist for those who believe. And Radelious belongs to the group of those who believe. Radelious realized that he could not grant Alura's wish to get rid of the disease, but could he hope for now? Hope that the disease is eliminated by whoever it is. Unknowingly, Radelious was crying. Doctor Hansen realized; he was holding the cat even more to feel calmer. Radelious's cries grew louder, what would happen to the cat if Alura left?
The miracle should have come now. This time let Radelious ask not
grant.
“Radelious?”
The fluffy cat gasped in surprise and then turned around. It was
Alura’s voice. Her flow has returned with her trademark sweet smile.
The magic does exist. For those who believe.
